Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III & Eli Moss

Faith, Family Legacy, Social Justice & the Power of Storytelling

This week on DREAMLEAPERS® with Harriette Cole, we welcome Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III and his son, award-winning filmmaker Eli Moss, for a powerful conversation about faith, family legacy, voting rights, and storytelling as a vehicle for social change.

Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III

Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III is the senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. A nationally respected preacher, poet, author, activist, and filmmaker, Dr. Moss is known for his commitment to social justice, equality, and faith-centered leadership.

He is the founder of Unashamed Media Group, a production company dedicated to creating stories that inspire the heart and challenge the mind. His short film Otis' Dream recounts his grandfather's unsuccessful attempt to vote in 1946, preserving a powerful family legacy and reminding audiences of the sacrifices made in the fight for voting rights.

Dr. Moss is also the author of Blue Note Preaching in a Post-Soul World: Finding Hope in an Age of Despair.

Eli Moss

Eli Moss is an award-winning writer, director, and filmmaker whose creative work explores identity, resilience, faith, and the human experience through the intersection of sound and image.

Raised on Chicago's South Side, Moss brings a poetic and deeply personal perspective to storytelling. He serves as Creative and Artistic Director of Unashamed Media Group, the family-founded production company supported by a Lilly Endowment grant.

His upcoming projects include Our Daily Bread, a narrative short exploring the underground gambling world through the eyes of a Chicago chef, and Blue Notes, a documentary featuring Grammy-winning guitarist Isaiah Sharkey that traces the musical connections between Chicago, Senegal, and the West African kora.

Moss holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Performance and Philosophy from Morehouse College and a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University.
