Deborah Willis

Deborah Willis, Ph.D., is one of the nation’s leading voices in photography, visual culture, and Black cultural history. As a celebrated photographer, curator, author, and MacArthur Fellow, her work has shaped how the world sees and understands the African American experience. Dr. Willis currently serves as University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Her groundbreaking contributions continue to influence generations of artists, scholars, and storytellers.
